NOTICE FOR USERS OF BRAESIDE DISPENSARY
We are experiencing unprecedented demand in the surgery dispensary. We have drafted in more staff but would urge patients to use the dispensary in a timely and responsible fashion
- We will not be issuing scripts for any period longer than 1 month. This is in response to new instructions from NHS England. Issuing scripts for longer than this is causing supplies problems for some essential medications e.g. inhalers so please respect this and do not ask for larger supplies
- Please do not request your prescription/medicines early. It will not be processed until it is due
- We require 3 working days to prepare prescriptions/medicines. Please do not come to the practice to collect before this time as it will not be ready
- We are receiving a huge number of requests for medication that patients have not had for many months or even years “just in case”. This is especially true of inhalers. This is endangering supplies for those who need such medication on a regular basis. We will not be issuing any medication that has not been used by the patient in the past 2 years. If you are requesting this medication because you feel unwell, please speak to a receptionist and your situation will be medically assessed.
Thank you for your understanding

Repeat Prescriptions
A computerised list of all current medication is provided each time a prescription is issued in the main surgery. Should you require repeat medication please tick the items required and either leave the form in the repeat prescription box in reception, post it through the letter box if out of surgery hours, or post it to us, enclosing a stamped addressed envelope if you wish the new prescription to be returned by post.
If you do not have a repeat form, please send in a written request stating your full name, address and the medication you wish repeated.
You can also order by email to farningham.dispensary@nhs.net. This email address is accessed at least twice a day and requests will be processed within 3 working days of receipt.
Alternatively you can register for our online services and order via the link at the top of this page.
We regret that repeat prescriptions cannot be ordered over the telephone as mistakes can be made.
Repeat medication/prescriptions may be collected from the main surgery during normal opening hours. Please allow 3 working days before collection. Saturday morning is not a normal working day for dispensing.
Please note that patients aged between 16 and 60 who claim free prescriptions will be asked to provide proof that they are entitled to do so.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
